Mushroom Networks Inc. said Feb. 2 that it has introduced its ThirdEye technology for transmitting live, high-quality video over mobile networks.
The technology transmits the video from surveillance cameras by taking the bandwidth of several inexpensive cellular data cards and aggregating it into a single, high-speed connection. The data can even be transmitted over multiple carriers.
Company officials said that with their technology, agencies can place pan/tilt/zoom cameras near areas of interest, such as borders or roadways, and move them to new locations as often as needed. No wired Internet connection is necessary.
San Diego-based Mushroom Networks is privately held and was founded in 2004. Cahit Akin is the company’s CEO and co-founder.
