Kia Motors America and the LPGA recently announced that the fourth annual Kia Classic golf tournament will be held at the Aviara Golf Club at the Park Hyatt Resort in Carlsbad in 2013.

The Aviara Golf Club was designed by famed golfer Arnold Palmer and features a par-72 layout that overlooks the Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad.

“We have a great relationship with the LPGA and the people in charge of the event,” said Renny Brown, director of golf at Aviara Golf Club. “There’s always been interest from Park Hyatt Aviara to host a nationally televised event and we’re excited to do so with the 2013 Kia Classic.”

The winner of the UC Irvine Women’s Golf Anteater Invitational, a collegiate event, will receive the 2013 Kia Classic sponsor exemption and be eligible to play in the LPGA event.

The 2013 Kia Classic tournament will be played March 18-24.

The tournament was held at La Costa Resort and Spa in 2012.
