By Lou Hirsh Friday, August 24, 2012

ViaSat Inc. Chief Financial Officer Ronald Wangerin will leave the company in December. The Carlsbad-based satellite communications service provider said in a statement that Wangerin is resigning to pursue other opportunities.

Shawn Duffy, the company’s corporate controller and chief accounting officer, will lead day-to-day management of the finance team and assume the role of interim CFO. The company has begun a search for a full-time CFO, and Wangerin plans to continue with the company through Dec. 17 to help with the transition.

“Ron has played a significant role at ViaSat, and we are grateful for his contributions as CFO and in positioning the company to take advantage of new opportunities,” ViaSat Chief Executive Officer Mark Dankberg said in the statement.

Duffy joined ViaSat in 2005 as corporate controller, adding the vice president role in 2009 and chief accounting officer responsibilities in April of this year.

ViaSat provides networked communications services and technologies used by consumer, corporate, government and military clients. The company trades under the symbol VSAT on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
