Where to Go Now? Group Mulls Local Economy’s Direction

By Lou Hirsh Wednesday, August 22, 2012

The San Diego chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, known more commonly as NAIOP, will examine new models for local economic development at a forum scheduled for Aug. 29.

Speakers will address what’s being done to aid growth in the region’s three key economic sectors — the military, tourism and innovation — and how to leverage that to build up other segments of the economy, according to a NAIOP statement.

Scheduled panelists include Mark Cafferty, president and CEO of the San Diego Regional Economic Develop Corp.; Duane Roth, CEO of Connect; and Ruben Barrales, president and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The event will take place at Campus Point, 10300 Campus Point Drive in San Diego, with registration beginning at 11:45 a.m. and the program starting at noon.

Registration and other information is on the NAIOP website, www.naiopsd.org.

The San Diego NAIOP chapter has more than 500 members, including developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial and mixed-use/retail real estate.
