By Lou Hirsh Monday, April 30, 2012

Courtyard by Marriott in Carlsbad has completed an extensive lobby renovation, including reconfiguration of registration, seating and dining areas.

Renovation costs were not disclosed. According to an April 25 statement from hotel operator Huntington Hotel Group of Irving, Texas, the lobby of the 145-room property has been redesigned to enhance work, socializing and entertainment options.

The front desk has been replaced by separate “welcome pedestals” for check-ins and other interactions with hotel personnel. Seating has been reconfigured to include a communal table, private media booths with high-definition televisions, and a semi-enclosed lounge area.

The lobby has a 52-inch LCD touch screen, employing GoBoard technology, allowing visitors to get local maps, weather, news and information on area restaurants and attractions.

Travelers will now find free Wi-Fi access, additional electrical outlets for mobile devices, an enlarged business library with computer terminals, and separate computer stations for printing airline boarding passes and checking flight status.

Huntington Hotel Group operates 24 hotels in six states under Marriott and Hilton brands, including seven in San Diego County. The Carlsbad Courtyard is at 5835 Owens Avenue.
