24 Hour Fitness has opened a new 67,000-square-foot “Super-Sport” club at 7715 Balboa Ave. in San Diego.
The facility was scheduled, at press time, to mark its formal grand opening April 21. It replaces a nearby smaller location being closed by the company at 7620 Balboa Ave., according to a statement from the San Ramon-based gym chain operator.
The new club includes a full-sized basketball court, two racquetball courts, indoor pool, sauna and training equipment, with personal viewing screens on select cardio machines. There is also a retail shop and baby-sitting services, with areas geared to cycling and various types of personal training.
A staff of approximately 80 is employed at the new location. The company operates 420 fitness clubs across the U.S., including 25 in San Diego County.
The company has operated locally for approximately 30 years. An El Cajon location that debuted in 2010 and the latest facility are in spaces that formerly housed Albertsons grocery stores.
