Hotel Indigo Debuts in Del Mar After Rebranding

By Lou Hirsh Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Hotel Indigo, an upscale boutique brand of InterContinental Hotels Group, has opened its second San Diego County location in downtown Del Mar.

A company statement said the April 12 opening, at 710 Camino Del Mar, followed a multimillion-dollar renovation and rebranding of the former Best Western Stratford Inn. The original Stratford Inn opened near the site in 1910.

The 94-room hotel now has a full-service day spa, two pools, hot tub, sauna and bistro-style restaurant with a full bar, among other amenities.

Mary Dogan, brand management director for the Americas division of U.K.-based InterContinental, also known as IHG, said the upgraded décor “seamlessly complements” the surrounding Del Mar neighborhood.

Rooms have new furniture, linens, countertops and showers, and each has murals depicting elements from the Del Mar racetrack and local beaches. There are two new ocean-view terraces, created by local design firm Design Line Interiors.

San Diego-based Pacifica Host Hotels owns and manages the Del Mar property under a license agreement with IHG. There is also a 210-room Hotel Indigo in downtown San Diego, which IHG sold last year to Maryland-based Chesapeake Lodging Trust.
