By Lou Hirsh Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Legoland California has expanded its Star Wars Miniland area, which opened last year, displaying more iconic scenes from the popular “Star Wars” movies made from thousands of Lego bricks.

According to a March 27 statement from the Carlsbad theme park, the display now has a giant Jawa sandcrawler, featured in “Star Wars: Episode IV,” made up of more than 15,000 Legos and weighing more than 50 pounds.

Other new Lego models being introduced this year include the ion cannon of the Rebel base on planet Hoth, a towering Crystal City building, and “the giant opee sea killer on Naboo,” the statement said.
