Sempra Energy, the parent company of San Diego Gas & Electric, announced several executive appointments and a realignment of three subsidiary companies on Sept. 14.

Effective Oct. 1, Mark Snell, currently Sempra’s chief financial officer and executive vice president, will become president. He’s replacing Neal Schmale, who is retiring later this year, but will stay on the board of directors.

That same date, Joe Householder, now the controller and senior vice president, takes over Snell’s job as chief financial officer and executive vice president.

Both Snell and Householder will report to Debra Reed, who was promoted to chief executive officer in June.

Also, Jessie Knight, CEO for SDG&E, and Michael Allman, CEO for Southern California Gas Co., will report to Reed.

Sempra said it is consolidating three subsidiaries into two effective Jan. 1, 2012. All of Sempra’s international operations and Sempra LNG will be part of Sempra International, headed by George Liparidis, currently Sempra’s president and CEO of Sempra Pipelines and Storage.

The rest of the company’s operations outside its two California utilities will be part of Sempra U.S. Gas & Power and led by Jeffrey Martin, now the president and CEO of Sempra Generation.

“Today’s appointments continue our orderly leadership succession process,” said Reed.
