Maas Leaving CCDC

Fred Maas is stepping down as board chairman and interim president of the Centre City Development Corp., the city of San Diego’s downtown redevelopment agency, also known as CCDC. Maas informed the agency Nov. 15 that he plans to devote all his time to his cleantech development company.

In a letter to Mayor Jerry Sanders, Maas said he is resigning effective Dec. 31.

Maas, 53, has served on the CCDC board of directors since June 2005. He assumed the agency president post on an interim basis in February 2009, following the resignation of Nancy Graham.

Agency leaders have said that a search firm has conducted some interviews for a permanent CCDC president. CCDC Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Frank Alessi will oversee daily operations in the meantime.
