‘Mr. San Diego’ Has Earned Quite a Good Name for Himself

Joe Craver, CEO of American Red Cross-San Diego/Imperial Counties, was named Mr. San Diego at the San Diego Rotary Club meeting Oct. 14. Mayor Jerry Sanders presented Craver with the award and recognized him for his outstanding contributions to the betterment of the community over a long period of time. He served on the Red Cross board of directors for four years prior to becoming the interim chief executive officer for eight months and was ultimately appointed CEO in 2008. Craver is a retired Air Force colonel who received a Silver Star and several other citations. The Rotary Club has chaired this event since 1976 … In celebration of UC San Diego’s 50th anniversary, the university will present Chancellor’s Medals to community leaders in recognition of their outstanding service to UCSD and the community.
