Cricket Expands Prepaid Wireless Service to All 50 States

Cricket Communications Inc., the main subsidiary of San Diego’s Leap Wireless International Inc., announced March 23 the launch of its prepaid wireless service in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, eliminating the roaming charges its customers previously paid.

Cricket’s new service begins at $30 for unlimited local and long distance minutes and national coverage. For $40, the service adds unlimited Internet access, texting, voice mail, call waiting and several other features.

It also has plans for $50 and $60 that provide enhanced cell phone services.

The company said its new plans offer the best value in the industry. Cricket is still limited to signing up customers in the 35 states where it has a presence. It has some 5 million customers.
