Trial Lawyer Delivers Courtroom Intensity in Latest Book

San Diego Morrison & Foerster partner James Huston, who specializes in aviation production litigation, has penned a new legal thriller titled “Marine One.”

Named after the call sign for any Marine aircraft carrying the president of the United States, the book delves into complex aviation product litigation after the president’s plane disintegrates, taking him with it.

A French helicopter manufacturer hires an attorney to defend it against charges of criminal responsibility, setting the stage for the kind of courtroom intensity Huston has witnessed firsthand.

“This story is, by far, the closest to what I actually do on a daily basis,” said Huston.

He says parts of his book were inspired by an Arizona case where he defended Sikorsky Aircraft, the makers of Black Hawk helicopters, against charges that faulty maintenance led to a crash that killed 17 people.

The trial lawyer has written best-selling fiction based partly on his own experiences as an attorney and former naval flight officer. He’s the author of “Balance of Power,” “The Price of Power” and “Flash Point,” among other books.
