Networkcar, a San Diego company specializing in wireless vehicle monitoring, announced March 27 that it has inked a deal with Automotive Resources International.
Based in New Jersey, Automotive Resources is a fleet management company that oversees a half-million cars and trucks.
The value of the deal will depend on the number of end-user subscriptions Automotive Resources receives.
Networkcar technology monitors a vehicle via the cell phone network. It pinpoints the vehicle’s location with the help of Global Positioning System satellites, and monitors engine diagnostics by tapping into a vehicle’s onboard computer. Networkcar is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Hughes Telematics.
Networkcar employs 70 people and has annual revenue in excess of $10 million.
Also on March 27, Automotive Resources said it was offering customers an alternative to the Networkcar solution using different technology. The other system is from Ottawa-based Netistix Technologies Corp.
