The Unified Port of San Diego celebrated the completion of the convention center parking structure near Petco Park, at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Harbor Drive. When the seven-story parking facility officially opens in February, it will add 1,100 parking spots for public use to the Downtown San Diego area.

Approximately 900 spots will be reserved for the future Hilton San Diego Convention Center Hotel. Construction began on the parking structure in November 2003 as part of the port’s Capital Development Program.

Design builder: Hensel Phelps Construction Co. with design teams from John Portman & Associates, Joseph Wong Design Associates and Flores Lund Consultants.

Cost: $26 million.

Ware Malcomb completed Phase I of the new corporate headquarters for Golden Oak, an international furniture manufacturing company, in Otay Mesa. The Golden Oak project includes a 106,000-square-foot distribution and manufacturing building with 17,000 square feet of office and showroom tenant improvements. Phase II of the project will include a 116,000-square-foot industrial building (also designed by Ware Malcomb) and is expected to be completed by June.

General contractor: Lister Construction Co.

Estimated cost: $4.2 million.

Johnson & Jennings General Contractor completed the $1.2 million renovation of office space for Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati LLP’s law offices in Carmel Corporate Center Building Two. Along with the build-out of the 20,150-square-foot office space, the renovations included the addition of a multi-room conference center and a 24-hour environment computer room.

Project manager: Dean Peterson.

Space planner: Studios Architecture.

Subcontractors: Montbleau & Associates, Interior Specialties, Caldwell Glass and Quality Painting.

Cost:$1.2 million.

Smith Consulting Architects provided complete architectural services for tenant improvement construction on a $2.5 million project. The improvements to the 72,425-square-foot Zimmer Dental manufacturing facility in Carlsbad wrapped up last month.

General contractor: Good & Roberts.

Property manager: Rreef.

Other consultants: Prime Structural, MEP, McParlane & Associates, ERMI Inc. and Daryl K. James & Associates.

Estimated cost: $2.5 million.

Environmental Business Solutions began environmental consulting services for a Sunroad Properties development site at 650 Main St. in Chula Vista. The site is vacant and slated to accommodate multiple auto dealerships.
