The Beaumont Foundation of America delivered high-tech equipment valued at $25,000 to The Boys and Girls Club of Vista. Equipment included five high-end laptops, five standard laptops, a wireless remote, four digital cameras, a color printer, and a LCD projector.

The PacifiCare Foundation pledged $150,000 to the Dream Foundation, a national charity that grants last wishes to terminally ill adults age 18 to 65.

Stanley Steemer Carpet Cleaner donated $10 of every carpet cleaning service performed in November 2003 to the San Diego Fire Relief effort. The grand total of $37,000 was divided among six organizations providing ongoing support to fire victims in San Diego County.

Pardee Homes has donated $2,500 to the Meadowbrook Education Foundation, which will use the funds to provide additional technology equipment at the Meadowbrook Middle School in Poway.

A $150,000 grant check from the Pfizer Foundation will be used to launch the “San Diego Middle School Science Education Leadership Initiative.” MSSELI is a science leadership academy for 30 selected middle school science teacher-leaders in San Diego County.

San Diego County fire departments and fire and burn prevention organizations will receive more than $1 million this year through Fireman’s Fund Heritage, a community-based corporate giving program launched by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., which supports firefighters for safer communities.

Proffer Financial, Inc. donated $4,000 to Big Brothers and Sisters of San Diego County, a nonprofit agency that provides trusted adult friends for single-parent children ages 7 to 13 who are missing quality role models.

Rosanne Holliday of the Holliday Family Foundation has allotted a portion of its $1 million pledge to Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside counties to enhance the South Bay Planned Parenthood Prenatal Program.

Nokia donated $184,000 to The San Diego Foundation, funding part of the San Diego Fire Victims Scholarship Fund and The Foundation’s After-the Fire Fund. Local Nokia employees contributed more than $14,000, with the company matching employees’ donation at 100 percent and then giving additional financial support.

San Diego County’s Enterprise Rent-a-Car employees have raised nearly $264,000 in 2003-2004 campaign pledges to regional United Way organizations. The money raised includes the Enterprise Rent-a-Car Foundation matching funds.
