New Interim CEO Named for Local Red Cross Has San Diego Roots, Specializes in Transitions
Carter Taylor was appointed as the new interim CEO for the San Diego/Imperial counties chapter of the American Red Cross, replacing Heath Rada, the chapter’s interim CEO, who took the job in June following the firing of former CEO Dodie Rotherham.
Taylor, who most recently served as an interim CEO for the Red Cross’ Palm Beach chapter and has been with the nonprofit organization for 24 years, will remain in the position until the local chapter’s board of directors selects the permanent CEO, said spokeswoman Sue Irey.
Rada, CEO for the Greater Richmond American Red Cross, returns to his permanent job after serving about two months.
Taylor is a specialist in working as a temporary CEO for Red Cross chapters going through transitions, and has also recently served as CEO for the Tucson chapter. She began her career with the Red Cross in San Diego as a medical social worker at the Naval Medical Center.
The local chapter was the target of local and national investigations following complaints that contributions made to a fund for the victims of the Alpine fire last year were not provided to the victims.
Rotherham, whose most recently reported salary was $309,000, was terminated in June, and her entire board of directors was dissolved by the national office.
