Media Arbitron rates KOGO-AM tops in local market

County TV Hooks Up With Radio Station

For Promotional Show

KOGO-AM is again the highest-rated radio station in the general San Diego market.

The news-talk station features hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and locally, former San Diego mayor Roger Hedgecock, as well as broadcasts Padres games. It had a rating of 6.5 this spring, according to the Arbitron Co. in New York.

That means the station had 6.5 percent of listeners in an average quarter-hour.

After KOGO, other top stations and their ratings for listeners ages 12 and older were: Top-40’s formatted KHTS-FM “Channel 933,” 5.0; hard rock-focused KIOZ-FM “Rock 105,” 4.8; jazz station KIFM-FM “Smooth Jazz 98.1,” 4.5; and soft rock station KYXY-FM “KyXy 96.5,” 4.4.

Another interesting note: Local ’80s stations KBZT-FM “B 94.9” and KMSX-FM “Mix 95.7,” both of which switched to the format in November, had identical 2.0 ratings for the spring.

On July 19, County TV began airing a “Sets Without a Net” in-studio session with singer David Gray. The half-hour show was taped several weeks ago, when Gray was in town on tour. It will continue to air through August, according to a County TV spokeswoman.

On their side of the deal, Sets’ DJs will talk about upcoming County TV shows.
