Cooking Show Treats Viewers To Chocolate

Timed for Valentine’s Day, County Television Network has produced an all-chocolate edition of its program, “The County Cooks! With Chef Larry.”

The Valentine’s show began running Jan. 29. It features recipes such as Chocolate-dipped strawberries, Grand Marnier bread pudding brulee and chocolate amaretto torte.

The show also has segments on creating a romantic table setting and San Diegans who make and sell specialty chocolates.

“County Cooks,” whose schedule is listed on the county’s Web site (www.ctn.org), features San Diego’s growers, farmers’ markets, wineries, cooking-related specialty stores, celebrities and chefs.

The television show is also a way the county highlights its own departments and how it distributes information that affects the public’s health, consumers, and the agricultural industry. The show is run by the county’s department of media and public relations.

Although “County Cooks” is regularly hosted by local chef personality Larry Banares, he’s joined for the Valentine’s show by county Supervisor Greg Cox.

Cox, by his own admission, doesn’t do much cooking.

However, he noted, “Everyone loves desserts. This was a perfect show for me to co-host.”
