With the Centers for Disease Control lifting a warning against nonessential visits to Mexico, San Diego’s year-round, homeported ship, the Carnival Elation, will resume regularly scheduled cruises to that country June 18.
The Port of San Diego said May 20 that the ship, with a capacity of 2,052 passengers, plans a three-day cruise to Ensenada leaving from the B Street Pier June 18. A four-day cruise to Ensenada and Catalina will follow June 21.
The ship resumes its four- and five-day cruises to Cabo San Lucas on July 2. Carnival runs five-day trips to Cabo that depart on Saturdays that feature two days in Cabo, as well as another trip on Mondays that features stops in Cabo and Ensenada.
Carnival, based in Miami, said it will continue to follow CDC guidelines for cruise ships which include preboarding health questionnaires for all passengers and crew, and secondary screening by shipboard medical professionals as necessary.
