Executive Profile — Ted Adams

Staff

Comic books may not seem like the basis for a profitable business, as consumers turn to newer forms of media for entertainment. But Ted Adams, president and owner of IDW Publishing, says there is renewed interest in comics and graphic novels.

This has meant a doubling of revenue for IDW for each of the last three fiscal years, according to a company news release, and a 25 percent increase in the release of new titles, as well as a movie deal based on the IDW title “30 Days of Night,” which is now in theaters.

Adams’ dedication to the quality of his publications has also been important to IDW’s growth. IDW has received several industry awards for small publishers, and Adams’ main business goal is to produce “perfect,” error-free publications.
